Recording and Release Guidance

Version 1.0 — Effective the day the Guest & Host Directory opens

Who is responsible for recording consent, and suggested wording for a release.

1. Who records

The host records the interview and is responsible for it. Guest Booking System does not record, store or publish interviews.

2. Consent

  • The application asks every guest to tick a box agreeing to be recorded. The system keeps that answer with the application.
  • Laws about recording a conversation differ between countries and states. Some require every person on the call to agree. Hosts are responsible for meeting the law where they and their guest are.
  • A host should say at the start of the call that recording has begun.
  • Guests should not record the call themselves unless the host agrees.

3. What a guest agrees to

Unless the host and guest agree something different in writing, a guest who takes part in an interview booked here agrees that the host may record it, edit it for length and clarity, and publish it and extracts from it on the show and to promote the show.

4. A release you can use

Hosts who want a fuller written release may send their guest wording such as this, and change it to suit their show:

“I agree to be recorded for [show name]. I give [host name] permission to edit, publish and promote the recording and extracts from it, in any format, with my name, photo and biography. I confirm that what I say is my own and does not breach anyone else’s rights. I understand I will not be paid for my appearance unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.”

This wording is offered as a starting point only. It is not legal advice.
